Firstly, I borrow this idea from Pinterest, which came from the source Apartment Therapy, which then originated from Whatever. Gotta give credit where credit’s due. I thought this was just precious, and since I am not addicted to pinterest I want to try some cool DIY crafts out. This is the first one.
I wanted to mix blues, blue/greens, and purples together, and I wanted mine messy. Well, that’s what I got.
I changed my technique multiple times. First, I tape groups of crayons randomly along the top.
Then, I started the blow dry process. Really I used my embossing heater because I wanted the air flow to not be as dramatic and splatter all over my legs (still did).
I tilted the canvas so the crayons would drip down. You know. The laws of gravity.
The tape started melting. Didn’t think of that.
It started taking FOREVER. SO, I took off the crayons and unwrapped the paper and just went to town with each color.
Gettin’ there. I started coloring the white spots. Like you would color a coloring book.
I made a mess.
Ta Da!
The end.

i LOVE this! can you describe how you “went to town” with each color?
Haha. I guess I wasn’t very clear!
I took each crayon separately and dripped them in different places over the canvas. Doing them individually made it easier for me since I wasn’t able to tape them down (the tape melted). So, holding each of them individually TOOK FOREVER, but it was easier for me. I really just kinda played around with it. I hope this helps!
ok. in middle school art class we melted crayons over a taper candle and dripped drops of melted was onto a pic we drew. LOVE. when i taught art we did the same thing, and we also melted crayons in muffin tins and painted with melted wax. sure love your drips.
Oh I like the idea of dripping it over a candle!!! This project was a headache sortof. But it got fun once it was almost covered and I figured out how to work those crayons!
